SUTIKKI ANNOUNCES SCHOLASTIC AS GLOBAL MASTER PUBLISHING PARTNER FOR LANDMARK BBC COMMISSION ‘MOON AND ME’
Scholastic Teams Again with Foundling Bird's Andrew Davenport, Creator of ‘Teletubbies’ and ‘In the Night Garden’
LOS ANGELES – MAY 24, 2017 – Sutikki, the kids and family division of Bento Box Entertainment, today announced that it has entered into a global master publishing agreement with Scholastic Inc for Andrew Davenport’s new preschool series, Moon and Me. Produced by Sutikki and Davenport’s Foundling Bird, Scholastic becomes the second global licensee for the brand, joining Hasbro, whose global master toy deal for Moon and Me was announced earlier this year.
Moon and Me was developed by Davenport, the creator of award-winning global preschool franchises Teletubbies and In the Night Garden. Inspired by well-loved tales of toys that come to life when nobody is looking, Moon and Me is the comical story of a special friendship between two characters from completely different worlds. Moon and Me will combine the latest production methods with traditional storytelling, comedy and music to create a beautifully constructed picture-book world especially for today’s preschoolers.
Davenport will act as principal author of much of the publishing range itself, ensuring that the on-screen magic of the series will extend directly and literally into every
Moon and Me book created.
The deal was scouted for Scholastic by UK licensing scout Maya Maraj, and acquired by Elizabeth Scoggins, publisher, licensing and non-fiction, Scholastic UK.
“I’m genuinely thrilled to have Scholastic act as our global master publishing partner,” said Andrew Kerr, co-founder of Sutikki. “I’ve been lucky enough to know and work with the team at Scholastic for a number of brands over many years, and I couldn’t imagine a better partner to do justice to all of Moon and Me’s tremendous storytelling opportunities.”
Elizabeth Scoggins said: “We are beyond excited to be working with Andy Davenport and Sutikki on a project with such great pedigree. It's a real thrill to welcome Andy to Scholastic both as an author and as the creator of an incredible new children’s programme. We’re very much looking forward to working together to create a truly
memorable publishing programme for Moon and Me.”
Editorial development of the Moon and Me global publishing range will be led out of Scholastic’s UK offices, working closely with Davenport himself with the intent of rolling out the publishing range across a number of territories beginning in Autumn 2018. Moon and Me will premiere on BBC’s CBeebies in the UK in 2018. It is being produced by Sutikki and Foundling Bird, with Sutikki overseeing global distribution and merchandise licensing.
